Sell seats for workshops, classes and studio sessions

Small-capacity sessions with materials fees, skill levels, and dietary or allergy notes — collected at checkout so you can prep the room before anyone walks in.

How this type of ticketing works

Workshops fail on logistics, not demand. Ten seats, two skill levels, a materials fee, and a room that has to be set up correctly — all of that has to be known before the day.

TixSimple treats each session as a ticket type with its own date, time, and seat count. Attendees pick a session, answer your custom questions, and pay. You get a clean roster you can export or check in by QR at the door.

What to set up in TixSimple

    1. 1Create an event for the class series, then a ticket type per session date and time.
    2. 2Set the seat count for each session so it closes automatically when full.
    3. 3Add pricing tiers: Standard, Member, Student, Bring-a-Friend two-pack.
    4. 4Include a materials fee either in the price or as a required add-on.
    5. 5Add custom fields for skill level, allergies, tool needs, and pronouns.
    6. 6Send a reminder before the session and check attendees in with a scanner key.

Fee example: Single seat in a three-hour workshop

A $65 ticket carries a TixSimple platform fee of $1.18 (1.3% + $0.33). If you sell 12 tickets, the total platform fee is $14.16. Stripe processing is separate and you choose whether to pass fees to the buyer or absorb them.

    Series, packages and repeat students

Multi-week courses work well as a single ticket that covers every session, with the weekly dates listed in the description. For drop-in studios, sell a punch-pack of several seats and check one off at each visit.

Coupon codes bring students back: a returning-student code, a referral code, or a code you hand out at markets and fairs where you demo your craft.

    • One ticket type per session date with its own seat cap
    • Member and returning-student pricing via coupon codes or email lists
    • Materials fees bundled or sold as add-ons
    • Custom questions for allergies, skill level, and equipment

    Frequently asked questions

How do I limit a class to eight people?

Set the session ticket type's quantity to eight. When the eighth seat sells, the session shows as sold out and stops accepting registrations.

    Can I run a waitlist?

Create a free Waitlist ticket for the sold-out session. Free tickets cost nothing, and you can email waitlisted students directly if a seat opens.

Can students register for several sessions at once?

Yes. All sessions live on one page, so a student can add multiple session tickets to the same checkout and receive a QR code for each.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Each session is its own ticket type, so you can close it and refund only those buyers through Stripe without affecting the rest of the series.
